Just watched "Ink", OMG. Interdimensional dream guides from the realms of good and evil (love and fear) race to influence the reconciliation of a father and daughter caught between life and death in the dream worlds. Depicts the immortal beings outside space and time who come to people's bedsides to create good dreams or nightmares, depending on what the person will allow. Accomplishes what other visionary films can only dream of, stands tall in multiple genres including mythic fantasy journeying films (from classic "Lord of the Rings" to contemporary "Interstate 60"), dream films ("Waking Life", "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"), parallel world soul retrievals (the youthful "NeverEnding Story", or the adult noirish scifi "Blue Flame"), and imaginative child coming-of-age stories ("MirrorMask", "Labyrinth", "Alice in Wonderland"). Arguably a little too much "Matrix" meets the "Wizard of Oz" on a low budget, but accomplished with indie art film style, Euro intelligence, and genuine enlightenment. Packed with lasting ideas and haunting visuals, emotionally rich and fulfilling, absolutetly transcendent. Rent, or stream online from netflix. Includes great synchronicity sequence with precedent in director Jamin Winan's earlier award winning short "Spin" which you can find online at youtube - the reality as Rube Goldberg contraption concept reminds me of the similar scene from "City of Lost Children". .
